Objective-type questions are very important in every exam, and through the OMR sheet, they can be solved. But to do this, we should be very careful. Learn how to effectively solve 100 questions in 120 minutes, depending on the difficulty level of the questions.

In the CA Foundation examination hall, an objective paper can be a time crunch, especially with the pressure to answer a high volume of questions. 

Take a breath and stay calm! Here are some cool tactics to face them more efficiently and save precious time for trickier sections:

• Quickly Scan the Paper: During the initial reading time, quickly scan the entire question paper to get a sense of the topics and difficulty level. Prioritize familiar sections first.
• Keyword Recognition: Focus on identifying keywords within the questions. Understanding the core concept being tested will guide you toward the correct answer.
• Elimination is Your Friend: Don’t waste time agonizing over every option. Quickly eliminate incorrect answers based on your knowledge. This narrows down the possibilities and saves valuable seconds.
• Trust yourself and your preparations. Sometimes, your initial instinct might be the right one. If you’re confident in an answer after a quick scan, move on instead of second-guessing yourself.
• Flag It for Later: Encountering a question that demands more time? Don’t get bogged down. Mark it for later, revisit it, and come back if you have time remaining.
• Stay calm & focused: Remember, time management is key. Don’t panic if you don’t finish a section immediately. Maintain your focus and allocate time strategically. Students must continuously begin solving questions to complete the 1.2-minute task. So in the first 15 minutes, you will get 25–30 questions, and your confidence will be boosted.

What is the most effective way to solve 100 questions in 120 minutes? 

The CA Foundation has an objective paper to solve 100 questions in 120 minutes. As a result, if we divide the average time by 100 questions to solve, we have 1.2 minutes to answer each question. And the average time for 1 question is 1.2 minutes. 

Now let’s see: How can students make mistakes, and what mistakes do they make? 

Look, what students do is continuously start solving the questions. Generally, students solve questions in the manner of questions up to down, which means numbers 1 to 10. Students generally continue solving from the start to the end; this is the way that happens. 

But what should be the right way, and what should we do? 

First of all, some questions are happening in about 30 seconds. 

In 30 seconds, we can see the answer as soon as we read it, or we can see the answer as soon as we press two buttons on the calculator. So the answer is coming very easily. If the questions are being answered in 30 seconds, then we should ask those questions first. 

We should look at such questions from 1 to 100 and do them quickly. 

• As usual, 25 to 30 easy questions are on the paper. 
• Answer them quickly and save the first 15 minutes.
• So 25–30 questions are 30 seconds, so they will be very fast. So in the first 15 minutes,. 
• Your 25–30 questions will be answered, and you will get the benefit that your confidence will be boosted.

After that, what we have to do next is jump on average questions that happen to us in about one to one and a half minutes. It may take 1 minute to 15 minutes to complete.

This is a good technique: we should approach an average question first, then we should solve average questions. There are 50–55 questions on the question paper, and attempting to solve all of them would take at least one hour. However, within that hour, you could easily solve 50 questions.

You can see that in 15 minutes, you will have answered 25–30 questions. And in the next hour, you can solve 50–55 questions more. After 1.5 hours, you will see 50 to 55 questions have been answered.

Approximately 1.5 minutes have passed, and now only 45 minutes are left.

Power Up after knocking out 75–80 questions? 

You dedicate your last 45 minutes to answering the final 15–20 questions. Now you have enough time left to tackle those long-answered or theoretical questions. 

Use the last 45 minutes to focus on the tough, big, and lengthy questions. Prioritize and work through these challenging problems systematically.

By approaching the paper in three rounds, you gain several advantages. First, your confidence significantly increases; answering 30 to 35 questions in the first 15 minutes gives you a strong start. Second, you ensure that you don’t miss any easy questions. 

Moreover, this strategy helps prevent errors on questions you are sure about, minimizing the chances of making mistakes on questions you know well. By approaching the paper in round three, you gain several benefits. 

First, your confidence significantly increases; answering 30 to 35 questions in the first 15 minutes builds your confidence level. Secondly, you have to ensure that you don’t miss any easy questions.

Moreover, this strategy helps prevent errors on questions you are sure about and decreases the chances of making mistakes on questions you know well. By applying this method, you avoid getting stuck on difficult questions early on. 

If you approach the paper in order and become stuck on a difficult question, it can undermine your confidence, stop your progress, and slow you down. Therefore, avoid getting entangled with any challenging questions until you’ve secured at least 75 questions.

Once you’ve secured those marks, you can tackle the tough questions in the last 45 minutes. By then, you’ll have accumulated 75–80 marks, ensuring a good score. This way, you will pass with good marks and easily solve 100 questions in 120 minutes before dealing with the tougher questions. 

Now, let’s discuss some important additional tips for the objective paper. 

When filling in the OMR sheet, mark the circles as you go through the questions. 

Don’t wait until the end to fill them all in, as you risk running out of time and leaving the sheet blank, which results in zero marks.

Fill in the circles as you progress. Another important point is that the #ICAI does not provide extra rough worksheets. 

Use the two pages at the end of the exam paper for rough work. 

Use a pencil for rough work so you can erase and make more space if needed, ensuring you always have enough space throughout the exam. When filling the OMR sheet, use an HB pencil for the circles and a black ball pen for any text. 

The OMR sheet is checked using magnetic field technology. Avoid stapling, folding, or writing outside the designated areas, as this can disrupt the magnetic field and affect your results.
